Gemini Canvas vs Gamma comes down to what you already pay for and where the deck has to end up. Is Gemini Canvas better than Gamma for presentations?

For design, no. Gamma is a dedicated presentation product, and its generated decks have more layout variety, better image handling and a structure that reads well when you scroll or present from a link. Canvas produces a competent, themed set of slides, and the expectation Google sets is that you finish the job in Google Slides. Its own announcement says you can "export the presentation from the Gemini app directly to Google Slides to continue to refine or collaborate with others".

For a Workspace team, the answer often flips, and not because of quality. Canvas is already in the plan, the output lands in Drive as a Slides file your colleagues can comment on, and nobody has to approve a new vendor or a new seat. A deck that is 80 percent as polished and 100 percent inside the tools your company already manages is frequently the rational pick for internal work.

The two also sit next to a third Google option that many teams confuse with Canvas. Since June 29, 2026, Gemini inside Google Slides itself can generate a full, multi-slide presentation that Google describes as editable, grounded in content from Drive. That one needs Business Standard or Plus, Enterprise Standard or Plus, or Google AI Pro or Ultra, and Business Starter is not on the list. Can Gemini Canvas export to PowerPoint?

Not directly from the Gemini app. Google’s announcement names one destination, Google Slides, and from there you download the file as a .pptx through File, Download, Microsoft PowerPoint. That round trip works, and it is the same conversion Slides applies to any deck, so check fonts and spacing after it.

Gemini Enterprise is the exception. Its Canvas help page says you can "export to Google Slides, Microsoft PowerPoint, or PDF" from the top right of the Canvas panel, notes that Canvas "is not supported on the mobile app", and limits the product to the Global, EU and US regions. That is a separate Gemini Enterprise license, not the Gemini app included with Workspace, so confirm which one your company holds before you promise a client a .pptx straight out of Canvas.

Gamma exports .pptx on paid plans with theme fonts embedded, which is good for a Microsoft shop. Gamma also documents that the export reflects Present Mode rather than Edit Mode and that layout or styling may differ from the editor, and the problems teams hit most often are catalogued in why Gamma PowerPoint exports break. For Google Slides the order reverses: Gamma has no direct Slides export, and Slides replaces the fonts Gamma embeds with its own.

Which is cheaper, Gemini Canvas or Gamma?

For a company already on Google Workspace, Canvas, because it costs nothing extra. 2026 US breakdowns put Business Starter at about $7 and Business Standard at about $14 per user per month on annual plans, and both include presentation generation in the Gemini app. Gamma is added on top: five people on Gamma Pro is roughly $90 a month, about $1,080 a year, before any credit top-ups.

The comparison changes if you are not on Workspace. Watch the meter on the Gamma side. Gamma’s own examples price a 10-card deck with basic images at 20 to 60 credits, and a 20-card document with premium images at 320 to 1,070. Gemini Canvas vs Gamma vs NotebookLM

NotebookLM, now called Gemini Notebook, is the other Google tool people put on this shortlist, and it is a different animal. It holds dozens or hundreds of sources per notebook and generates a Slide Deck from all of them, but it draws each slide with an image model, so the .pptx it exports is one picture per slide with no editable text. Canvas gives you editable slides from one prompt or file, NotebookLM gives you a picture-deck from a whole library, and Gamma gives you the best-designed deck from what you paste. Gamma is also more than a deck tool. It generates documents and simple web pages from the same editor, which is part of why some teams pay for it. Which should a US team actually buy?

Use Gemini Canvas if your company is on Google Workspace, the deck is internal or will be finished in Google Slides, and the input is a prompt or a short file. It is already paid for and it ends up where your colleagues work.

Buy Gamma if the deck is judged on how it looks, you present from a browser or share links, you need a .pptx for people on PowerPoint, and a layout check after export is acceptable. Take Pro rather than Plus if the decks carry many images.

Buy neither if the content already exists as a finished document. Both tools write a new deck about what you give them. For a board paper, a quarterly business review, an audit finding or a proposal the client has already read, a paraphrase is the risk, not the feature: somebody approved specific wording and specific numbers, and nobody re-checks forty pages against fifteen generated slides.

The third route: convert the report you already wrote
